- AWC is a pioneer media NGO in Eastern Africa in the field of engendering the media and focusing on the interface between gender, media and development.
- Strong partnerships with like-minded organizations, such as Uganda Media Women’s Association and Tanzania Media Women’s Association in East Africa and Gender Links and Inter Press Service in Southern Africa. This ensures that we work within an international context and with the relevant institutions, while at the same time training a strong base at home.
- Strong partnerships with major international and national institutions that work with issues within ourfocus area. They include several UN bodies amongthem UNICEF, UNDP, UNESCO, UNIFEM and UNAIDS, the Ford Foundation, the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and HIVOS among many other much valued and esteemed partners.
- AWC is a member of the G10 , a coalition of Civil Society organisations. The other members of the G10 are WILDAF, FIDA Kenya, Caucus for Women's Leadership and CREAW
