Research and Content Development

AWC has chosen research and content development as a key strategy to generate quality information on issues related to women and children. We continue to invest in quality research to provide policy makers, the media industry and general public with reliable data and information. The results of the various research studies will be shared in books, training manuals, campaigns and advocacy materials, and features in mainstream media.

  • Documenting Voices of Women

Documenting the Voices of Women in the Post Election Political Crisis in Kenya -2008

The aim of this Project is to document the Voices of Women affected during the violence that rocked the country following the disputed December Elections.
This initiative intends to capture the experiences, perspectives, and recommendations of women and children during this delicate moment of national reconciliation, dialogue, and peace building processes.

  • International Women's Day 2010

The new millennium has witnessed a significant change and shift in both women and society’s thoughts about gender equality and women’s emancipation. But much more needs to be done globally for women’s education, awareness and representation in different sectors of the society.

For IWD 2010, AWC worked with other partners for the Festival CulturElles, to highlight the part played by Kenyan women in artistic creation and celebrate the status of women through the medium of art and music.

Feature articles were also generated on women's issues around the IWD

  • Research

As part of our research, African Woman and Child develops partnerships with other organisations in order to harness more expertise and experience. We also aim to create and maintain an up-to-date data bank on media and gender issues as a resource for information and knowledge for media and other stakeholders.
