Programme Objectives

Altogether, the programme contained three learning areas each divided into specific study units. All the study units address the relevant Gender issues.

The programme lasted 30 days, during which the following materials were reviewed namely:

  • Review Programme and other related documentation.
  • Consult with relevant partners including women’s groups
  • Meeting with parliamentarians (women in particular) and institutions engaged in the empowerment of women.
  • Meetings with legislature and other government officials.

Tasks

  • Outline and provide assessment of present capacity needs.
  • Provide interventions for capacity development order of priority
  • Recommended trainer/facilitator and participation profile and duration of training or workshop
  • Recommend potential partners and key counterparts for the activities
  • Develop a training plan for one year.

Broadly the programme is intended to prepare potential political leaders who can effectively play their leadership roles as:

  • Resource mobilisers
  • Overseers

  • Leaders
  • Lobbyists
