Engaging women’s vulnerability: Transforming livelihoods and promoting citizen media.

WHAT

The President of the Ford Foundation, Luis Ubiñas, will visit Dol Dol primary school in Laikipia on 1st of October 2009. The Coalition of Violence Against Women (COVAW) has partnered with the Ford Foundation in a programme to encourage girl-child education among the Samburu community.

Luis A. Ubiñas is the ninth president of the Ford Foundation has worked extensively with for-profit and non-profit organizations before joining Ford as the President. He has served on the Boards of a range of local and national non-profits, including Leadership Education and Development, the Steppingstone Foundation, the March of Dimes in Boston, and the United Way in San Francisco. In his Business career, Luis spent 20 years at McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, he worked with telecommunications, technology and media companies and led McKinsey's Media Practice on the West Coast. His worked centered on leading major change programs.
