RE: INVITATION TO A NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NAVIGATING THE TERRAIN OF HATE SPEECH, FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AND NON DISCRIMINATION IN KENYA
The National Cohesion and Integration Commission which is one of the Agenda Four Commissions established after the post-election violence, will hold a National Conference on Freedom of expression, Hate Speech and Equality on the 17th and 18th June 2010.
This has been necessitated by the charged political atmosphere owing to the upcoming referendum and other significant reform processes which if not controlled might lead to national discord and political intolerance. This forum will therefore provide an opportunity for discussion on how to responsibly exercise freedom of expression while also strongly discouraging the infiltration of hate speech that can compromise the achievement of a cohesive nation.
