Holding National Police Accountable on the prevention and response to sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV)

African and Child Features Service, with the support of REINVENT, a programme of Tetra
Tech International, has developed Checklist to hold the police officers and police stations
accountable on how they handle SGBV cases reported to them, especially by women and
children. The tool is designed to help monitor and evaluate how Gender Desks in police
stations respond to and manage cases of SGBV reported to them within the framework of
the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on Prevention and Response to Sexual and
Gender Based Violence. This is aimed at enhancing justice for survivors of SGBV.
